Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety is a feeling most people try to avoid because it can be overwhelming, with anxious thoughts, a racing heart, and sweaty palms. However, anxiety is a normal part of being human. It helps our mind and body recognize potential dangers and activates our "fight, flight, or freeze" response to keep us safe. Sometimes, though, we may struggle to distinguish between a perceived threat and an actual one. This is where anxiety therapy can be helpful.
At Affinity Counseling Center, we recognize the importance of integrating mind, body, and soul in anxiety treatment. Treating the whole person provides an all-encompassing strategy for addressing and managing anxiety. Your therapist will work with you to explore and address anxious thoughts. They’ll also work with you to explore new ways of coping.
Anxiety therapy can address a variety of symptoms, including:
Excessive worry or fear
Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
Racing thoughts or a feeling of being overwhelmed
Physical symptoms such as a rapid heart rate, sweaty palms, or difficulty breathing
Avoidance of certain situations or activities due to anxiety
Difficulty making decisions
Feelings of restlessness or irritability
Difficulty controlling or managing anxiety
